XLOOKUP is designed to overcome many of the limitations of VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH, but most users only scratch the surface of what it can do. In this session, you’ll explore how to use XLOOKUP to search left or right, handle errors without IFNA, perform approximate and wildcard matches, and search from bottom to top. You’ll also learn how to resolve common #N/A issues caused by mismatched data types and how to convert numbers stored as text.

Additional techniques include returning multiple columns from a single formula using dynamic arrays, building self-expanding formulas with Excel Tables, matching on multiple criteria, and locating values within date ranges. The session also compares legacy lookup tools to modern approaches so you can confidently choose the right method for any reporting or analysis task.
